“They can still lift on being promoters, though a Hatton fighting name will be finished and we can’t see him durability 12 rounds with me wearing 8oz gloves.”

Brook, who hopes to be roared on by 8,000 fans in his home city when both fighters risk general welterweight titles, added: “On a voicemail, he pronounced ‘Come and quarrel me’ though we knew he was dipsomaniac and deleted it. He wants a best for his family.

“We’ll sight a hearts out and have a good war.”

Hatton, 30, said: “I was out with Ryan Rhodes and he talked me into a call, though Kell took it well.”
